EHRD 630 - Adult Learning
Adult Learning was a course that truly broadens your understanding of the adult mind. It was during this class we were to exercise our own strengths, weaknesses, and be open-minded to others during this course. Particularly, this course had us reflect on the limitations we all find within ourselves and methods to break free from our own boundaries. Specifically with age and social structures. During this course, we began to dive deep into the complexity of the human adult mind and contemplate subjects between one another such as whether or not intelligence can or cannot be measured by fluid or crystallized processing but rather experiences had by an individual and their ability to make sense and value of those experiences. Within HRD it is important to realize that not all experiences within adult education have the same effect on everyone.

Adult learning also encouraged us to record our weekly learnings and reflect within our group and ourselves and recognize how each week can be built upon one another. At one point during the course, we were asked to reflect on a particular photo of two individuals interacting with one another and we as viewers had to give our thoughts and understanding of the photo. It was this class and the communication between others that taught me that everyone is different, everyone is an individual, and cultural differences can either bring us together or tear us apart. I am choosing to be firm in my beliefs and cultures while also being open to ideas and concepts I have never been accustomed to. I choose to learn rather than ignore possibilities and be tolerant rather than intolerant towards differences culturally or otherwise. This course opened my eyes to the beauty and complexity of the adult mind.

For Adult Learning, I chose to submit my "Major Assignment II" assignment comprised of the first few weeks of my learning audit.
This assignment reflects my thoughts and progress towards better understanding the adult mind when discussing subjects such as ageism and cultural differences. This assignment also reflects my first applicable tasks towards my career at Texas A&M as an Event Coordinator.
